The Thursday Murder Club - Richard Osman

This was a Cover to Cocktails book. I was looking for something funny and this was on a list of funniest books of 2021.

The Thursday Murder Club follows four friends, Elizabeth, Joyce, Ibrahim, and Ron, who live in a retirement community. The friends meet every Thursday evening to investigate cold cases. Imagine their surprise, and maybe a bit of delight, when not one, but two murders happen right in their backyard.

The first murder is a local developer who helped to build the retirement community. His body is found in his kitchen with a photo next to it. The immediate suspects become the people in the photo, one of whom is Ron's son.

The second murder is the owner of the retirement community, who is killed at a protest outside a cemetery he plans to destroy to add additional buildings. There are so many people who dislike the owner that the list of suspects is overwhelming.

The Thursday Murder Club slowly works their way through the suspects using skills from their past until they solve both crimes. There are so many twists and turns that you will be kept guessing right until the end.

This was a wonderful book with great characters and a great story. Thank goodness this is the first in a series because I am not ready to let these characters go!
