As I wandered through the library one day I came across this book. Our library features different books highlighting plot, people, places, etc. This one was in the plot section and looked good so I picked it up. The library recommendation did not disappoint!
This book takes place in Hollow's Edge, a small lake community where tragedy struck a year and a half ago. Brandon and Fiona Truett were murdered by carbon monoxide poisoning. What seemed like an accident suddenly became a murder investigation with most fingers being pointed at Ruby Fletcher. Ruby was Harper Nash's roommate, worked at a local school, and walked dogs for some of the neighbours. She had keys to the Truett house and security cameras put her outside the night of the murder. She was sent to jail and not expected out for years. Then her lawyer found new evidence that got Ruby released. No one expected her to return to Hollow's Edge.
Ruby showed up at Harper's house and let herself right in like nothing had happened. Harper wanted her to leave, but didn't know how to tell her and felt like she owed her something. The neighbours were unsettled and started up their old neighbourhood watch again. Ruby flaunted it, she made sure she was at every gathering and spoke to everyone. Harper starts to feel like she is being targeted after she gets accusing notes. As things get tense, Harper starts looking for answers, but will it be too late?
This was a great book. It had interesting plot twists, good characters, and a great mystery. The ending might surprise you! If you need a quick read to fall into, this is a good one to try!
