I found this book while looking for Cover to Cocktails books and added it to my hold list. Unfortunately it came when I couldn't get to the library earlier this year and it expired, so I put it back on my hold list. It came in again and I left it to the last minute once again....this time my husband sped to the library and got there moments before closing time, just to get the book for me.

This book follows the Brennan family, a tight-knit Irish family living in New York. The only girl, Sunday, left five years ago without an explanation and moved to Los Angeles. After a night at a bar, Sunday chooses to drive home and is in an accident. Luckily, it is a single vehicle crash and she only hurts herself. Her older brother Denny is her emergency contact and he flies out to see her and convinces her to come home. Sunday has doubts, but agrees to fly back to New York, even if it means coming face to face with her ex fiancé Kale.

Kale became an honorary Brennan when he was a kid and he and Sunday fell in love as teenagers. They planned to elope and start their lives together when five years ago something happened that made Sunday run. The only other person who knew her secret was her younger brother Jackie. Five years later, Kale is married with a young son, but seeing Sunday again makes him question everything.

Sunday starts working with Denny and Kale at their pub, Brennans. Sunday is trying to make sense of the books when she stumbles across some questionable accounting. It seems she isn't the only one keeping secrets. Denny has been hiding something from Kale and the rest of the family.

Sunday's dad, Mickey, is slipping into Alzheimer's, but is still lucid enough to be at home with the family. But he has a secret too, one that could change the way his children see him.

The family is deeply flawed but truly love each other. So while many times I questioned their decisions, and wondered how much of this story could have been avoided had they just been honest with each other, I did enjoy the book and am happy I didn't let the hold expire again! If you need a story about family love with a few secrets thrown in, you will enjoy this one.
