This book is the last of the Rosie trilogy. And if you haven't read these books, what are you waiting for??
The third book follows Don and Rosie Tillman in their move back to Australia with their son Hudson. Hudson is exhibiting similar characteristics to Don, trouble with social situations, breakdowns if things don't go exactly as planned, basically Hudson is a mini Don. And Don realizes that his own life at that age was not fun, so he wants to do something to help Hudson through these times. The Hudson Project is born.
To fully take on the Hudson Project and to support Rosie in her career, Don has to reconsider his own career, which turns out to be easier than you would think once you see Don make another socially awkward exchange. We watch Don realize many things about himself, and see him lean on his friends to help Hudson. We also get to watch Hudson surprise Don many times in his abilities.
Just like the first two, I was pulled into the book and really felt drawn to the characters. It's been a few years since I read the first book and I want to go back and read it again! Don is such an endearing character and really makes you think about people struggling with societal norms. And makes you wonder if society should rethink societal norms.
The Rosie series is great, go read them!
