I found this book in a little library on one of our many walks around the neighbourhood. I like a books about libraries!

This book follows the life of Marth Storm in a small town in England. For fifteen years Martha took care of her ailing parents and since they have passed Martha continues to feel a need to help people. She keeps track of her tasks in a little notebook and all the jobs she has agreed to do for people fill up a lot of her house because she can't say no.

Martha works in the local library and one day finds a bag tied to the door with her name on in. Inside she finds a book missing it's cover. When she opens it up she finds an inscription to her from her grandmother dated three years after her grandmother died. Martha feels that she needs to solve this mystery.

As Martha tries to find the truth, she begins to find her voice and starts saying no to people. She also tries to discuss the mystery with her younger sister, but her sister insists that Martha should stop digging. Along the way, Martha also meets new people, most notably Owen, a book shop owner who helps her learn more about the book.

This was a nice book about a woman finding her voice. I enjoyed most of it, but found it dragged sometimes. The characters were mostly likeable and the story had a happy conclusion. I will pass this one along either to book club or in another little library so someone else can enjoy it.
