I had this one on my list of books to read for awhile and used my favourite reading app, Libby, to read it on my phone!
The book follows the Strick family. One day Astrid Strick, the grandmother, sees a woman she has never liked get hit by a bus. Seeing this shakes her more than she expects and she realizes life is short and that she was not always the best mother and starts trying to have meaningful conversations with her children.
One son, Nicky, lives in New York and has sent his daughter Cecelia to live with Astrid for awhile. He has always been the favourite according to her other children. The other two children live in the same town, Elliot is owns a construction company, is married, and has twin sons and feels like he could never do anything right in his parent's eyes. Porter is single and decides she wants a baby, so gets pregnant, but also continues her relationship with her married high school boyfriend.
Astrid works on her relationship with her children and we also get to follow Cecelia adapting to life in a small town.
This one was a really good book!
